In class we talked about Alex's home (home sweet home) I did a model of his home (Tal) and I get excellent!! In class we discussed the deprivation in Alexs life and his initiative in improving the situation. What initiative does he takes to correct it? 1. He develops a deep relationship whit Snow. 2. He saved 2 peoples by shooting the German. 3. The doctor saved his dying friend. 4. Alex created a hiding place. We learned a lot from Alex- you could always change and do something in a bad situation. It is like the war with Irak. In school we do drills on going to a safe room, so we wont get hurt. At home we bought a lot of bottled water and canned food. Have you done anything? Do you feel safe? Sincerely TOT Tom & Tal
Hello We got your letter but we didn't get the picture that you sent us Could you sent it again We also liked chapter 4 in the book for the same reasons you wrote. We finished reading the book and in the end there is another part that is really nice I can't tell you about it because I don't want to ruin it for you. you well have to read and see sincerely TOT
Hey whats going on? Did you get e-mail we sent you from your teacher? WE are going to the Holocaust Museum again on April 4. We would like to tell you a little more about ourselves. Chelsea likes to go horse-back riding. We both like to play basketball. Carrie is going to be in another talent show in May. In PE we got to pick the sports we want to play for the rest of the school year. We both picked basketball and flag football. Flag Football is like regular football but instead of tackling, you pull the flags off. We have to go. CAC Carrie and Chelsea
Hey again, Today we returned to the Holocaust museum. We got to explore the museum and look at the pictures and stories. We met another Holocaust survivor. Her name was Mary Lou Ruhe. She was born and lived in Poland with her mother and father. She was an only child. Her family had to move into the Lodz ghetto. She was sent to the Auschwitz death camp and then was transported to Bergen-Belsen. Later she worked in a labor camp making bullets for the Germans. The Allied forces then captured the labor camp she was at and freed her. Next, she went to a displaced person's camp where she lived for 4 years where she met her husband-to-be. Then they got married and moved to St. Louis. Her parents both died in the camps. We liked being able to go through the museum by ourselves instead of with a guide because we were able to look at people's daily lives more closely. Have you gone to any Holocaust Museums? Do know or have met a Holocaust survivor? CAC Carrie and Chelsea

In science class, we are going to have a pizza party and watch a movie. Its been very warm lately and rainy. We had about 3 inches of rain. From your friends, Carrie and Chelsea
Hello We hope that you enjoy your holiday! We are stuck in school. What did you do in the holidays? What kind of music do you like? Tal likes Blink 182. Have a great Christmas with lots of presents sincerely, Tom and Tal
Dear TOT, Hi! To answer your question, Carrie's favorite group is the Dixie Chicks, and Chelsea's favorite singer is Nickelback. On January 9, 2003, we visited the St. Louis Holocaust Museum. We saw a model of the Lodz ghetto. It was very tiny to be able to put so many people in it. We also saw many pictures that the Nazis took inside of the concentration camps. It seemed that the Nazis were proud of what they did. We think they must have been crazy. After we toured the museum, we got to listen to a Holocaust survivor tell his story. His name is George Spooner. He was born in Vienna, Austria but was sent to England on the Kinder transport. His father was sent to a concentration camp but was released. He traveled to England on a men's transport. His mother was able to obtain work in England as a cook. He is one of only 5% that left on the Kinder transport and was able to see his family again. After this we went to Fazolis, a fast Italian restaraunt. That was a lot better than school food. The next day we went to the History Workshop on this website. We saw a lot of pictures of families being sent to the gas chambers. Can you imagine what they would be saying to each other? It would be a horrible feeling. Talk to you later, CAC
Hi, The class is now reading a book of the Holocaust The Island on Bird Street. In the class we wrote poems about hiding in the holocaust. Here is our poem: He sits in his hiding place and thinks of the old days. He seesthe Nazis hitting the Jews. He dreams.. about his family. He hopes he will survive. But he knoes he will he hopes tobut he couldn't Because hes hiding place is putrid. What T.V shows do you like? Do you have a pet? Tal has a Parrot named Gili! And she loves him a lot I believe that you know about our first astronaut Elan Ramon that crashed with the other 6 members of the Colombia space shuttle ? It is so tragic! Tal keeps all the newspapers before the take-off, during the trip, and after the crash! Bye Tal & Tom Speak to you soon TOT
Dear TOT, Chelsea's favorite TV show is Trading Spaces, and Carrie's favorite is CSI. Chelsea has one dog named Annie. Carrie has one dog too, named Bo. She also has two guinea pigs named Cinderelmo and Prince Blossom. The Columbia Space shuttle explosion was a very tragic loss to America as well as to Israel. So about the book Island on Bird Street.... we are responding to the section that says...... "Father once said to me that you didn't have to fight fair against the Germans because they were first to break the rules. Only Father couldn't use his gun because if anything ever happened to a single German the Germans would kill lots of men, women, and children to make sure it didn't happen again. And so no one dared to do anything. How could you be responsible for so many lives just because you felt like killing a German?" We think the Jews would have to think very carefully about their decisions. If they wanted to kill one soldier, the Germans would come and kill many. The Jewish fighters were in no position to do that. It was like kill one German and have many others killed. So they had to hold back their anger. What do you think about Alex? How do you like the book so far? We like it a lot. CAC
